It has been a while...
I came to realize, that it has been a long time since my last blog post. No real excuse, other than since most of my family and friends are on Facebook now, I don't have to post in the blog to keep them updated. I will try to do better, I promise.
Last weekend, Josh and I drove up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and did some exploring. We went to Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, and Linville Falls. The fall foliage was so vibrant towards the higher elevations, but the entire span of the Parkway that we drove was beautiful.

CKTP
About a month ago, I took the examination to become a Certified Kinesio-Taping Practitioner, and now I have all of the tools. Basically, this means that I went through the courses and have the basic knowledge to apply the kinesiotape to my patients for various conditions. It is a very useful product, and can be used on a variety of patient diagnoses. While I'm not sure how much I will use it in the home health world, it is a nice skill to have in my "tool box" of patient care ideas.

Rose of Sharon
When I returned from vacation, I had the pleasant surprise that my blue Rose of Sharon is blooming. This is the plant that my grandfather rooted for me last year.

Topsail Island
I joined Josh's family for a relaxing week at Topsail Island, NC last week. It was great fun, and his family was able to meet Mom and Mike while here. We enjoyed time on the beach (Josh got to use his surf board for the first time), but we also went to the Sea Turtle Rescue while visiting. It was a great trip, and it was nice for my shoulder to have a week off from work.

Biltmore House
Josh took me to Biltmore House for a day of sight seeing. We weren't able to do any strenuous activities because of my shoulder, but we enjoyed walking around and seeing the estate. Josh had never seen Biltmore House before, so it was fun showing him around. We did the audio tour of the house, and I learned some things that I hadn't heard before. We also got to tour the gardens and see the beautiful flowers in bloom.

Flower Beds
Mom came to help me in the flower beds today, as it is hard to do it one armed. On my shoulder note, I will be going for a MRI arthrogram (where they can get a better look at the inside of my shoulder) hopefully within the week. Back to the flowers, mom came to help plant some flowers. Here is also a picture of the Rose of Sharon that we planted this past fall, it has grown so much!

Happy Easter
I came home from my trip to discover these beautiful blooms. What a great Easter surprise! As for the trip, we had a fun time. Thanks to my TENS unit and a pillow, I can survive 4 hour road trips. Josh has also been great in understanding that I can't do any activities that require real use of my left shoulder. I will post pictures from the trip in a later post.
Happy Easter!

Spring is in the air
I planted this tulip earlier this year in a pot, and it finally bloomed today. It is so pretty and unique!

Grilling Bison Burgers
Josh and I bought some Bison meat at Whole Foods Market a few weeks ago, but the weather has not cooperated for grilling. Finally, the weekend weather was beautiful, and we were able to grill hamburgers. Mom opted for a regular hamburger, but everyone else had Bison (Buffalo) burgers. They were very yummy, and I was impressed that mom did try a bite of the Bison meat. It was a fun day all around with very good food!

New Laptop
With some convincing, and trying out, I decided to make the switch from a windows PC to an Apple Mac. I have really enjoyed my new, much smaller, MacBook Air! Yesterday, I gave my old computer to my brother. Now, he can have my laptop that is newer and faster than his nearly 12 year old computer. This should really help him for school!

Rose of sharon
In the fall, my grandfather gave me a rooted portion of a Rose of Sharon. Since the warmer weather is here, the tips are sprouting with new greenery. I can't wait to see how it does this year.

Grandpa and Zoe
Such a sweet moment. Zoe went to visit her great-grandpa today for a precious birthday visit. Nothing makes you smile bigger than a sweet little baby, and Zoe is a sweetheart!

Valentine's Fun!
For a Valentines celebration, Josh and I went to the Childress Winery for lunch. The food was very yummy, and the scenery was nice. We will definitely have to go back once the grapes are in season to get the full effect. Since we went to dinner on Sunday, I figured that was the end of our Valentines, but he surprised me with having 18 red roses delivered to my house. They are beautiful, and made me feel so special!

Chicken Pot Pie
Here is my first attempt at cooking Chicken Pot Pie by myself. It looks yummy, so I hope that it tastes as good as it looks.

Fun in SC
My mom and I drove down to SC to visit family, and we also got to play with Zoe. In case you don't remember, Zoe is my cousin's baby who was born about 2 1/2 months ago. I haven't seen her since she was 2 weeks old, and wow, she has grown! It was also much easier for me to hold her this time, as the last time I had just had shoulder surgery. She is growing so much in her personality, and she sure does love her great-grandpa!
