Georgetown, SC here I come

It is pretty much official, I will have my next assignment in Georgetown, SC! They have 5 different outpatient clinics in the area, they are just not sure which one I will be at yet due to staffing changes. I am very excited though, I will be on the beach during the summer! Also, there is scuba diving on the coast, so I can go on more dives again! I fly home on April 25th, and I should start the next assignment sometime at the first of May. SC, here I come! Fort Worth Stockyards

As I am running short on my weekends left, I did the last major thing on my list today, and saw the Fort Worth Stockyards. They have a twice daily herding of the Longhorns through the streets (at 11:30 and 4:00), lots of stores, restaurants, and saloons. In addition, today, they had the Pawnee Bill Wild West Show. It was a lot of fun and featured trick riders, a whip, trick roping, singing, and other interesting things from the old style of Wild West Shows. Overall, it was a good day trip, and I enjoyed myself.

Welcome James and David Robbins

Here is a picture of one of the twin boys. This one is the smaller one who was born 4 lbs 3 oz, and is relatively healthy considering he is premature. The other twin was born at a little over 5 lbs, and he has some fluid in his lungs and is hooked up to more lines, leads, and tubes (I'm not certain exactly what, as I haven't seen him or really gotten all of the details yet). Thankfully, at 33 weeks, babies are mostly fully developed, but sometimes the sucking reflex hasn't developed. They are going to try to bottle feed the smaller/healthier twin some breast milk later to see how he does and how he tolerates it. If he is able to suck and tolerate the feedings, he should be able to go home when my step-sister Kellie does. If not, he will have to have a NG (feeding) tube down his nose for a little bit. The other twin will require a little extra care and cannot be handled yet, as the flu bug is passing around and they don't want him to get the flu, pneumonia, cold, or any other bug/germ. Hopefully, he will recover very quickly and be able to go home not too long after mom. As for mom, she is recovering from her Preeclampsia and C-Section, and while she is very swollen, she should be feeling better in a few days. I want to say thank you to everyone who knew what was going on last night and prayed for everything to go well, also, thank you to the doctors and nurses at Forsyth Medical Center (and the one nurse who was involved in Kellie's care at High Point Regional Hospital before she was transferred to Forsyth) who were and are involved in their care and recovery.

I'm now an aunt!

Early this morning, after much worry and health problems for my step-sister, they delivered the twin boys (David and James) early this morning by C-Section. The boys are about 7 weeks early, but they should be okay thanks to modern medicine, and my step-sister's medical problems (high blood pressure, swelling, bad blood levels/blood chemistry) should get better now that the twins are delivered. I will be sure to post a picture of them as soon as I see one, but I can't wait to see them in person in a few weeks!

Remember the Alamo

I went to the Alamo this morning. Of course, most of the actual fortress has been destroyed by the battle or over time, but the main structures of the Shrine (the most recognizable building) and the Mission are still standing. It was unreal to actually stand on the same grounds where such a strong moment in history occurred. I mean, who hasn't heard the phrase "Remeber the Alamo" that was cried out in the following battles to honor the fallen and avenge their deaths. No pictures are allowed inside of the buildings out of respect.
