Christmas Candy

It is that time of year again, that's right, time for Christmas candy. Mom had to do most of the task this year, as my shoulder is still recovering. We made peanut butter fudge and chocolate covered peanut butter balls. Later, we will make white chocolate covered Ritz peanut butter crackers. Macy found the discarded peanut butter jar and went to town. Toby wasn't too sure about the jar and stayed back kept a watchful eye.

Wind

The power of nature! Last night Toby and I were watching tv when we heard a very loud noise. Turns out, the wind blew my swing over. It definitely could have been a lot worse, as many other places had more severe storms. Now, I just have to wait for someone to put it back upright for me.

Watching Fish

Here is Toby last night intently watching the fish swim around in a fish tank. When one got close, he tried to figure out how to grab it. Too funny!

Rose of Sharon Rooting

My grandfather had rooted me some Rose of Sharon plants, and gave them to me on Friday. I was able to supervise my mother in the planting of the Rose of Sharon plants. He gave me a blue/purplish flowering bush and 2 pink flowering bushes. I cannot wait to see how they do next year.

Meeting Zoe

My mother and I took the trip down to SC to meet my cousin's new baby girl, Zoe. She is 7 days old today, and still the cutest baby. The drive down to SC was rough on my shoulder, but with using my sling, I was able to do okay. Needless to say, I had to take my stronger pain meds and lots of ice packs. We picked up my grandmother on the way over, and were able to take some great pictures, including a 4 generation picture. Notice, I am sitting in my pictures holding Zoe, as it is the only way that I could safely hold her and not have to use my arm. Zoe is a great baby and we are so lucky to have her in our family!

Sneaky Toby

As my mom finished her milkshake last night, she took the top off of it and Toby decided he wanted a bit. It didn't take him long to realize that this was something that he enjoyed and wanted to get a better taste. Don't worry, we didn't let him eat too much, I stopped him as soon as I took these pictures. Needless to say, he wanted more and was unhappy that I stopped him.

Zoe is Home

After being born Saturday night, my cousin's baby Zoe is finally home! She had some minor issues that the hospital wanted to monitor, but everything is okay, and she is home with family now. What a great holiday season this will be.

Zoe was born tonight to my cousin Isaac and Shandle, she is 7 lbs 14 oz. How beautiful!

Frankenstein Shoulder

We took off the bandage last night, and it looks like it feels. All together, I have 4 incisions; 3 small ones and one longer one.

Surgery

I had my shoulder surgery yesterday, and the surgeon had to repair several things in my shoulder. Initially, they gave me a nerve-block pain shot that took much of the edge off the pain. Today, I have pain, but it isn't too bad if I stay still. I take my sling off tomorrow and I go back to the surgeon on Tuesday. I will post updates as they occur.

Topsy Turvy Apple Pie

My mom and I made an upsidedown apple pie today. It looks yummy, so I hope that it tastes as good as it looks.

Tanger Outlet Center

We are at the new Tanger Outlet Center in Mebane, NC for one last major shopping trip before my shoulder surgery. My one complaints was lack of parking, but this shouldn't be an issue once the initial crowds are gone. We ended up parking at another building and had to walk to the shopping center! Once we got into the outlet center, the location is so spread out that it did not feel as crowded as the parking lot would make it seem. My mom and I had gotten 20% off coupons in the newspaper the week before, and used all 10 of them! We got some really great deals and had a blast, it is nice to have a nice outlet center closer to home. A big thanks to my mother for helping to carry so many of the bags since my left arm is not in top form.

Preparation for Halloween

Toby wanted to have a practice run with his Halloween costume and practice his "trick or treat" on his Nana. Thankfully, she gave him a treat, otherwise he may have given her a trick that she wouldn't have liked.

Ceramic Heater

I recently bought a new ceramic heater. It has two settings, automatically turns off when the air reaches a certain temperature. The heater also oscillates from side to side and has a remote control to change the settings. Here is Toby relaxing near the new ceramic heater, but he didn't stay there for too long because I think he got too hot.

Canna

My yellow Canna finally decided to bloom. It was a nice pleasant surprise to have a flower blooming in October though. Hard to believe that it is October already, and Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner!

NC Zoo

Happy 10/10/10!
To enjoy the beautiful weather yesterday, I went to the NC Zoo. The zoo consists of two areas, Africa and North America. The Africa section consists of the typical African animals and the North American side consists of the animals we find here in our country. The zoo is very widespread and has about 5 miles of pathways. Needless to say, there was a lot of walking involved, but it was a fun day.

Cookies from Scratch

Yummy, I made cookies from scratch. These cookies have Craisins, oatmeal, white chocolate chips, and the other normal cookie ingredients. The first day they were good, but the second day these cookies were amazing. It is fun making things from scratch and not from a mix.

Waterproof Shoes

I bought some rain boots, so now, I will be ready for the next rain storm AND be fashionable. Aren't they soooo cute? Watch, now it won't rain for a long time since I have cute rain boots.

Fall Decorations

My townhouse is now ready for fall. I have lots of mums and impatiens/vincas planted along my flower bed border. They are so pretty and have already grown a bunch; the blooms are visible from the road! Last night, I put up my 2 scarecrows and my little witch to add some fall spirit to the door. I love having a place to decorate!

Time for Fall clothes!

It is that time again, time to break out the fall weather clothes. I recently purchased this outfit, but I was finally able to wear it this weekend. While I love the summer, I am ready for the cooler weather to get here. Halloween is just around the corner!

Baby shower for my cousin!

My younger cousin Isaac and his wife Shandle are the soon to be parents of a little baby girl. Zoe is scheduled to be born in mid November, and we are so excited. Our family threw her a baby shower this past weekend, and it was a blast. She got so many great gifts and they should be ready for baby Zoe's arrival. Here are a couple of pictures from the party.

Does anyone see a problem here?

I was on my way to my third patient today and here is what I found. A cop had arrived on the scene shortly after I arrived and agreed with me that my car would not be ideal for a swim. I called the patient and was going to reschedule for this afternoon. Unfortunately, when my patient's wife called back, she stated that the flooding was now worse! She said that some other car had tried to cross and gotten stuck with a tow truck going to pull it out soon. I was going to try to walk around, but there was no way that I could get around without walking in the water (and no thank you). Hopefully, the flooding will be down tomorrow, and I can make it to the visit tomorrow!

I certainly never had this problem with working in a clinic, definitely a interesting twist to home health.

Here is the updated picture of the Sprite Melon/honeydew. It is slowly growing, so hopefully it will make it before it gets too cold.

Harvest Moon and Jupiter

Lately, Jupiter has been the second brightest light in the night skies (second to the moon). I finally went out to take a picture of them, but as my camera is not a fancy SLR, the pictures came out decent. In the second picture, you will see the moon at the top and if you go down, the second/smaller light you see is Jupiter. It is a little tough to see, but I still wanted to share this beautiful vision. Also, note that the moon is a big and beautiful full moon. Happy Fall!

A little melon

I finally have a baby melon growing from my Sprite Melon seed! It is about the size of a large grape. How exciting!
